1. Who We Are

These Terms of Service ("Terms") apply to the website webots.academy and the app at app.webots.academy (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. Our Privacy Policy and Refund Policy are part of them.
2. The Service
Webots Academy offers robotics lessons in the browser. You read a lesson, write a robot controller in Python, and run it in a real Webots simulation that runs on our servers, with nothing to install. Educators can create classes, assign lessons, and review their students' submissions.
3. Accounts
- You confirm your email address before you can use your account.
- One account per person. Accounts are personal: don't share your login with anyone.
- Give accurate information and keep it up to date.
- You are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us at once if you think someone else has used it.
4. Plans
Lessons and their theory are free. Plans differ in how much simulation time they include. Daily time resets at midnight UTC, and only a playing simulation uses time. Current prices are on our pricing page.
Free
€0
10 minutes of simulation a day. Educators can try the teaching workflow with one evaluation class of up to 3 students. No card needed.
Student
€9 / month
For yourself. 1 hour of simulation a day. A monthly subscription; cancel anytime.
Class
€890 / semester
For one class of up to 30 students, for one semester (183 days). Each student gets 1 hour of simulation a day for the class's lessons. A single payment, not a subscription.
Taxes are shown at checkout. When your daily time is used up, new simulations wait for the next reset; your code and progress stay saved. For a department or an institution, write to us.
5. Payments
Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. Paddle charges your payment method, adds the tax due in your country, and issues your invoice or receipt.
6. Renewals and Cancellation
- Student plan: renews every month and is charged to your payment method until you cancel. Cancel anytime with "Manage subscription" in the app (your account menu), which opens Paddle's customer portal. After you cancel, you keep the plan until the end of the month you have paid for; then your account returns to Free.
- Class plan: does not renew by itself. After its semester the class stays, with its submissions, as an evaluation class (up to 3 students) until you buy a new Class plan.
Refunds are described in our Refund Policy.
7. Acceptable Use
Simulations run on shared servers. Use them for learning and teaching robotics. You must not:
- abuse the simulation servers, for example by mining, running unrelated workloads, or deliberately exhausting their resources;
- attack, probe, or try to break into the Service, its servers, or other users' accounts, or try to escape the sandbox in which your code runs;
- circumvent the daily time limits, for example with several accounts;
- share your account, or resell or give others access to the Service;
- upload content that is unlawful or infringes anyone's rights.
Your code runs in an isolated sandbox, with limits on time and resources. We may stop a simulation that breaks these rules or endangers the Service.
8. Content and Intellectual Property
- Lessons are published under the licences stated in their repositories or on their pages; partner lessons belong to their authors. The Service itself, its design and the Webots Academy name are ours. Webots is open-source software by Cyberbotics.
- Your code stays yours. You give us permission to store, run and display it only as needed to provide the Service, for example to run your simulations and to show your submissions to the teacher of your class. Lessons educators add from their own repositories stay theirs.
- Usage data: we may use anonymised usage data (such as simulation time and server load) to run and improve the Service.
9. Availability
We work to keep the Service available and your work saved, but we provide it on a best-effort basis and cannot guarantee that it will always be available, uninterrupted, or free of errors. We may need maintenance windows, and we may change or remove features, lessons, or servers.
10. Termination
You can stop using the Service at any time and ask us to delete your account at contact@webots.academy; cancel a Student plan first so it doesn't renew. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these Terms, after a warning where that is reasonable. Lessons remain exportable and compatible with standalone Webots.
11. Liability
To the extent the law allows, the Service is provided "as is," and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for loss of data, profits, or opportunities. To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or your statutory rights as a consumer.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms. We will post the new version on this page with its date and, for important changes, tell you by email or in the app before they take effect. If you continue to use the Service afterwards, the new Terms apply; if you don't agree, you can cancel your plan and stop using the Service.
